Equipment support

VT is a major provider of through-life support to both military and non-military equipment. We support:

  • over 3,200 military aircraft
  • 7,000 frontline army vehicles
  • 50 naval vessels
  • a fleet of 24,000 non-military vehicles
  • numerous training, communication and IT systems.

This capability includes full reliability and maintainability analysis, logistics and supply chain management, and platform and equipment maintenance, repair and upgrade.

Examples

  • VT works extensively with the Royal Air Force on its Tucano Total Support Programme, meeting operational requirements while minimising through-life costs on a fleet of over fifty turboprop aircraft .
  • In North America, VT Aepco is responsible for providing the logistics for over 3000 aircraft for the US Army
  • As part of a joint venture with Amey, VT owns and maintains the fleet of front-line construction vehicles used by the British Army. We also supply the UK MOD with almost 15,000 non-frontline vehicles such as cars, coaches and lorries.
  • Sea King manufacturer Agusta Westland relies on VT to maintain its fleet of RAF and Royal Navy Search & Rescue helicopters. 200 technicians maintain the fleet at locations ranging from Scotland to the West Country to the Falkland Islands.
  • VT maintains the Metropolitan Police’s fleet of 3,600 vehicles. Our service includes rapid response teams who carry out roadside repairs that allow the police to return to duty as fast as possible.
  • VT has recently been awarded the contract to manage the New Dimension fleet of more than 500 emergency vehicles and equipment modules. These are used for dealing with major emergencies such as floods, terrorist attacks and urban search and rescue.
